Essexville, Mich. - Petty Officers 3rd Class Jeremy Timothy and Jeremy Lake of the New London, Conn.-based Coast Guard Cutter Morro Bay learn ice rescue techniques Jan. 25, 2011, during a four-day training class where Coast Guard men and women come to the Ice Capabilities Center of Excellence at Station Saginaw River in Essexville, Mich., to learn the proper techniques for rescuing people on ice-covered bodies of water. The Morro Bay is assisting with ice breaking operations in the Great Lakes this winter, and the crew has to know how to rescue someone should they fall through the ice near the cutter.
