KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Petty Officer 2nd Class Akaniyene Inyang of Marine Safety Unit Morgan City, La., receives the Blacks in Government (BIG) Meritorious Service Award for his exemplary service in promoting the tenets of civil rights, human rights and equal opprotunity at the 32nd annual National Training Conference, Aug. 17, 2010. Inyang's wife and son accompanied him to the official ceremony, which also recognized him for his volunteer work, mentorship and his contributions to service-wide matters by providing deck-plate level input to senior leadership through breakout sessions.
