WELAKA, Fla.-- Captain Andy Blomme, commander, Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, Welaka City Councilman, Mayor of Welaka Gordon Sands, Congressman John Mica, United States House of Representatives, Florida District 7, ranking member of the House of Transportation Committee and Donald Frasch, commodore, Coast Guard Auxiliary District seven, help open Coast Guard Auxiliary Detachment Welaka by taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony Monday August 6, 2010. Auxiliary Detachment Welaka has been established to provide the surrounding areas with necessary search and rescue services that previously required a two-hour drive from either Coast Guard Stations Mayport or Ponce de Leon Inlet.
