Emergency fix enables Coast Guard Haiti evacuations to continue

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Petty Officer 2nd Class Hector Rios (left), Petty Officer 1st Class Andrew Bonifant, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Tison Velez replace the "engine one" starter on an HC-130 Hercules aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., during evacuations of U.S. personnel in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. With the Coast Guard rescue plane full of 80 evacuees, including injured persons, when the engine starter broke, the aviation maintenance technicians were able to replace the starter within 20 minutes, enabling a safe evacuation of all persons to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
