Dozens of Coast Guard active duty, reserve, and auxiliary members walked the docks offering voluntary inspections to crab fisherman along the Central and Northern California coast as part of "Operation Safe Crab." The dockside exams help save the crab fishermen time and money by giving them the opportunity to be sure their vessel is safe and seaworthy, and can help prevent them from being boarded while underway fishing.
