SAN FRANCISCO (July 22, 2008)-- The Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf makes way through the San Francisco Bay for the first time on its way to Coast Guard Island in Alameda. The Bertholf, which will be homeported in Alameda, is the first of the Coast Guard's new National Security Cutters. The new cutters are set to eventually replace the aging fleet of 378-foot cutters as the Coast Guard's long-range patrol asset. (Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer Kevin J. Neff)
