Pascagoula, Miss. (Dec. 4, 2007) --Sea trials began this week for the Bertholf, the U.S. Coast Guard's first National Security Cutter. The Bertholf, the Coast Guard's largest multi-mission cutter, sailed from Northrop Grumman shipyard docks into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. Bertholf is the first of eight planned ships in the new class of technologically advanced multi-mission cutters being built at Northrop Grumman, acquired under the Coast Guard's Deepwater Program.
