Hawijah, Iraq's first police station opened its doors, Aug. 10, 2008, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key IP leaders from the Kirkuk province, local government representatives and the coalition force. "This is the direct result of the Iraqi security forces working jointly with the coalition force," Lt. Col. Fatah, city of Hawijah police chief said. He was referring to the gains in security enjoyed throughout the district measured as a 90 percent decrease in violent activity perpetrated against civilians, ISF, and CF in the last six months.
