PANAMA CANAL (July 3, 2005)--Crewmen from the Cutter Forward look on from the bow of their ship as they enter the first lock of the Panama Canal. They will participate in a nearly 10-hour navigation detail through the locks and lakes of the canal. The Forward is heading to the Pacific from its homeport in Portsmouth, Va., to participate in the international naval exercise UNITAS. UNITAS is aimed at increasing inter-operability between naval forces in the Western Hemisphere and will include forces from seven different nations. The Forward has steamed all the way from its homeport in Portsmouth, Va., and will participate in the exercise off the Pacific Coast of Colombia. USCG photo by PA1 Donnie Brzuska
