PANAMA CANAL (July 3, 2005)--Under the glow of artificial light, crewmen from the Cutter Forward work on the bow of their ship while navigating through the Panama Canal. The Forward is heading to the Pacific from its homeport in Portsmouth, Va., to participate in the international naval exercise UNITAS. UNITAS is aimed at increasing inter-operability between naval forces in the Western Hemisphere and will include forces from seven different nations. The Forward has steamed all from its homeport in Portsmouth, Va., and will participate in the exercise off the Pacific Coast of Colombia. USCG photo by PA1 Donnie Brzuska
