PANAMA CANAL (July 3, 2005)--BM2 Shawn Fitchko directs the deck department on the forecastle of the Cutter Forward while transiting through the Panama Canal. The Forward is heading to the Pacific from its homeport in Portsmouth, Va., to participate in the international naval exercise UNITAS. UNITAS is aimed at increasing inter-operability between naval forces in the Western Hemisphere and will include forces from seven different nations.
