Second Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment Soldiers search a home in Hegnah, Iraq during Operation Summit Pursuit, July 27 - August 5, 2008. This was a first for the 2-22 Inf. Regt. company who had ventured into the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment's area of operations, approximately 30 miles southwest of Kirkuk city. Both joined forces to pursue the remnants of al-Qaida in Iraq in the northwestern quadrant of the Hawijah and Sharqat Districts and to identify and apply for Iraq-Commander's Emergency Relief Program funding for schools, medical clinics and the like for villages in those areas.
