BATH, Maine (Mar. 18, 2005)--The Coast Guard Cutter Tackle breaks a buoy (in the foreground) out of the ice on the Kennebec River near Bath, Maine today. Melting snow drains into the ice-choked river, threatening to flood towns from Gardiner, Maine, to Bath, Maine. The Coast Guard Cutters Bridle, Tackle and Thunder Bay break the ice to allow the snowmelt to drain harmlessly into the Atlantic Ocean. USCG photo by PA2 Andrew Shinn
