Electrician's Mate 2nd Class Jimmy Martin, of Bay City, Texas, replaces the deck plates in the engine room of CGC Adak, inport in the Arabian Gulf, Aug. 18, 2003. The deck plates are removable to provide access to various components of the engines as well as valves and pipes. The members of U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia's Engineering Department are crucial to promoting the good working order of the ships operating in the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After the ships' crews return to port after a patrol, they are able to receive much needed time off as PATFORSWA's support teams care for the needs of the crews and ships.
