Northern Arabian Gulf (June 19, 2003) -- The hulk of the wrecked tanker vessel Ain Zalah rests just west of the shipping channel on the Khawr 'Abd Allah, the waterway which links the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr with the gulf. During a routine boarding of the hulk, a team from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Aquidneck (WPB 1309) discovered weapons, ammunition, fresh food, and drawings of coalition warships in a bow compartment. It is believed forces loyal to Saddam Hussein were using the hulk as an observationpost. U.S. Coast Guard photo by PA1 John Gaffney
