Members of the New York Army National Guard Joint Force Headquarters Color Guard prepare to present arms during a ceremony honoring Van Buren to begin on Dec. 5, 2013 at the Dutch Reformed Cemetery here. The ceremony marked the 231st Birthday of President Martin Van Buren held here on Dec. 5, 2013. Shields presented a wreath from President Barack Obama at the grave of the eighth president. Local officials representing the Village of Kinderhook, the National Park Service, and local groups also presented wreaths honoring Van Buren.(Eric Durr, NYS Division of Military and Naval Affairs.)
