New York Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Raymond Shields speaks about President Martin Van Buren during a ceremony honoring him on Dec. 5, 2013, at the Dutch Reformed Cemetery here. The ceremony marked the 231st birthday of Van Buren. Shields presented a wreath from President Barack Obama at the grave of the eighth president.
