Gunnery Sgt. Stacey Johnson, a Marine officer selection assistant in Baton Rouge, La., dashes through the streets of New Orleans during the third annual Bayou Classic Parade on Nov. 28, 2013. Johnson and nearly two dozen other Marines participated in the parade as part of the Marine Corps' efforts to diversify its officer ranks. The Bayou Classic Parade highlighted numerous floats and marching bands including the Human Jukebox of Southern University, the Grambling State University World Famous Marching Tigers and the Marines Corps Band New Orleans. All of the Marines who attended the celebration are in New Orleans to take part in the Bayou Classic. For 39 years, the Bayou Classic has showcased the long-standing intrastate rivalry between the Southern University Jaguars and the Gambling State University Tigers for 39 years. The United States Marine Corps has been a partner of the Bayou Classic for 13 consecutive years in celebration of the hard work, courage and commitment to excellence exhibited by its many participants. Johnson is a native of Jacksonville, Fla. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
