Lt. Gen. John Wissler, right, thanks Sgt. David B. Loran Nov. 18 for his efforts during Operation Damayan in the Republic of the Philippines. At the request of the Government of the Philippines, U.S. Armed Forces have been providing support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines during the operation in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. The typhoon affected more than 4.2 million people and 36 provinces across the country. Wissler is the commander of Joint Task Force 505. Loran is a logistics and embarkation specialist with Combat Logistics Battalion 4, which is currently assigned to 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade in support of JTF-505.
