HOUSTON -- Civil Air Patrol aircrew members wait in a hanger at the West Houston Airport to support the assessment of Hurricane Rita's impact. This was the second day of flight operations after the Texas CAP was requested to begin operations in Houston. The CAP is a volunteer organization that augments and enhances a variety of operations. The CAP's main mission includes operating aerial reconnaissance for homeland security, disaster-relief and damage assessment, transport for time-sensitive medical material, and counter drug missions.
