United States Air Force Tech. Sgt. D. Ormsbee II, 517th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron 1st sergeant, greets new members of his deployed unit Nov. 12 at Royal New Zealand Air Force Base Ohakea, New Zealand. The 26 personnel deployed to the 517th EAS on a C-17 Globemaster III from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, to conduct Exercise Kiwi Flag flying operations using the heavy-airlift platform. The new arrivals joined more than 40 airmen who deployed from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Nov. 5. Kiwi Flag personnel are supporting Exercise Southern Katipo - held on New Zealand’s South Island - by managing air operations and providing cargo and passenger airlift including tactical air drops to SK participants. SK hosts nine countries involved in air, land and maritime operations. Exercise Kiwi Flag runs through Nov. 29. Ormsbee is deployed from JBER where he is assigned as the 703rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron's Airframe, Powerplant, General section chief. He calls Corry, Pa., home.
