Vincent Speranza, a former infantryman machine gunner with the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II, enjoys a day with Paratroopers from the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division Oct. 7, 2013 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Speranza was a special guest as he climbed aboard an Alaska National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk Utility Helicopter to watch the Paratroopers jump off and descend to the frozen ground at JBER’s Malemute Drop Zone. Speranza was at the base to visit Paratroopers with the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 501st Infantry Regiment and to be an honored guest at their regimental ball. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt.
