Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 3rd Class Kristin Rensch, originally from Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., utilizes a baton to defend herself against a simulated attacker, after being sprayed in the face with Oleoresin Capsicum, Nov. 8, 2013. Rensch is taking part in an obstacle course as part of Naval Air Facility Misawa's Auxiliary Security Force Academy. Prior to navigating the course, Rensch and her fellow students each received a dose of Oleoresin Capsicum, also known as pepper spray, so they could have a better understanding of the affects of this non-lethal weapon, which they may need to deploy someday in the performance of their duties.
