A new lightweight boot with a composite replacement toe, left, is being developed to replace current steel toed boots by the Office of Naval Research's (ONR) TechSolutions program. The new boots will meet or exceed current industry standards for impact and compression protection and will begin evaluations from Sailors and naval aviators in January 2015.
