Pvt. Devonte Haggins, a combat engineer assigned to Company A of the 91st “Saber” Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st “Ironhorse” Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, retrieves a grapnel hook he threw to make contact with a wire obstacle and check for mines during an offensive and defensive breaching exercise, Oct. 24, at Fort Hood, Texas. Haggins, a Charleston, S.C., native, used the grapnel to pull the wire and check for a path to an obstacle clear of threats.
