Lt. Col. Phillip Trevino and Lt. Col. Lydia Jordan represent the Maine National Guard in the Maine Emergency Management Agency operations room during the Maine Vigilant Guard Exercise 2013, Nov. 5. "Vigilant Guard is a defense support to civilian authorities exercise, involving state and military agencies," said Robert McAleer, director of MEMA. "It is an excellence exercise because of the pressure that will be put on us, it's a real test of everybody's capabilities and I think all the emergency response team members will be challenged." Currently, and over the next three days, agencies from across the state will respond to simulated natural and man-made disaster scenarios in order to be better prepared for a large-scale incident.
