Riders taking part in the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School Motorcycle Safety and Mentorship Ride on Oct., 25, listen as Staff Sgt. Christopher Maske, training NCO, talks to them about the purpose and history of Company D, 1st Battalion 252D Combined Arms Battalion, North Carolina Army National Guard, in Sanford. This was the first stop for the riders for them to eat lunch, talk about lessons learned and techniques. As an incentive for participating in the ride safety awards were presented to several of the riders following lunch. The first award presented was to one of the mentors for assisting a fellow rider. The purpose of the event was to allow riders the chance to apply lessons learned from the basic riders course to the open road, build cohesion and learn from the more experienced riders.
