Senior Airman Francisco Garcia, 332nd Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron barrier system maintainer, bleeds the barrier system brakes, Feb. 9. The barrier system holds a mixture of hydraulic fluid pressure and nitrous pressure that must be separated by bleeding the nitrous bubbles out of the hydraulic fluid. The barrier system holds cables that are used to enable fighter aircraft with malfunctioning landing gear to land. The aircraft can hook onto a cable and the resistance produced by the cable will help the aircraft ease into landing. Airman Garcia is deployed from Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
