Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment “Desert Rogues,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, grapple during the King of the Pit challenge, here, Sept. 6. The King of the Pit event was just one part of the Desert Rouges’ Commander's Cup program, an ongoing competition established by Lt. Col. Sean Kuester, commander, 1-64th AR. The King of the Pit event placed each company against each other in a circle approximately 50 meters wide. Soldiers worked together to remove other companies from the pit until only one company remained. The Commander’s Cup program is intended to boost esprit de core and morale, as well as display the warrior spirit of the American soldier. (U.S. Army curtsey photo)
