Captain Garrett John, rear detachment commander for 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, escorts Kaitlin Watley, daughter of Michelle and Logan Watley, down the field at the homecoming game for Richmond Hill High School. Traditionally, fathers escort their daughters, who are part of the homecoming court, during halftime before the announcement of king and queen. However, when Kaitlin’s dad was unable to be there because of his deployment in Afghanistan, Captain John stepped up and escorted Kaitlin himself.
