Lance Cpl. Oscar Kush, mortarman, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, and a native of Chicago, performs rope training during a Mixed Martial Arts class in Oceanside, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013. Rope training forces the body into constant balance mode as it works to re-stabilize and reposition itself during each ripple of the rope. Kush transfers his skills as a Marine to MMA to better his fighting abilities. He has been training for 10 months and plans on making MMA a career.
