French Brig. Gen. Joel Rode, French Forces Djibuoti commander, arrives aboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) to view the operational capabilities of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (KARG), at sea, Sept. 30, 2013. The 26th MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force forward-deployed to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility aboard the KARG serving as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious operations across the full range of military operations.
