U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Rich Tiu and Sgt. 1st Class Mark Bolton, both assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), assisted by Sgt. 1st Class William Parks with the U.S. Army Europe Aviation Safety and Standardization Detachment (UASSD), prepare to launch a RQ-11B Raven unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Sept. 26, 2013, at the Oberdachstetten Local Training Area. This training flight was part of the operator re-certification training being conducted by the Illesheim, Germany based UASSD. Once certified by the UASSD, these operators will return to their units and train other operators how to fly UAVs.
