A U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft assigned to Air Forces Central Command flies above a simulated target during an air operations for maritime surface warfare exercise July 17, 2013, in the Persian Gulf. During the exercise, two rigid-hull inflatable boats assigned to the guided missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) simulated a small boat attack before the F-15E simulated the detection and elimination of the threat. The Monterey was deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
