A Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fires an M500 shotgun during a non-lethal weapons course at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 12, 2013. The Marines trained in the use of non-lethal ammunitions, which are designed to incapacitate a target. The MEU is scheduled to deploy in early 2014 to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
