Lance Cpl. Saroum Verng, a San Diego native and motor transportation operator with Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Regional Command (Southwest), directs a vehicle at Forward Operating Base Shir Ghazi in Helmand province, Afghanistan, after completing a combat logistics patrol Aug. 22, 2013. More than 30 vehicles took part in the convoy, which provided simultaneous support to Forward Operating Bases Shir Ghazi and Shukvani.
