The Marines are part of III Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Okinawa, Japan. The sailors are members of the USS Blue Ridge crew and 7th Fleet embarked staff. UFG is carried out in the spirit of the Republic of Korea and U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty signed on Oct. 1, 1953, and further contributes to training and enabling of the Republic of Korean military taking the lead for their combined defense in 2015.
