This year marks the 75th anniversary of WWII and the Allied invasion of
Normandy, in which the United States played a critical and important role.
To mark the anniversary, the U.S. European Command with its allies and
partners, will come together to honor and thank WWII veterans and their
families for their service and sacrifices on behalf of the United States;
recognize the contributions and sacrifices of Unites States Allies during
WWII; educate the public about the history of WWII and the service of the
Armed Forces; and pay tribute to the Allied troops who liberated the
prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The anniversary observances may be
the final opportunity to honor and thank WWII veterans and their families in
person.
