The Air Force Reserve’s 445th Airlift Wing will be hosting a series of commemorative events Sept. 19–21 in honor of War veterans and Honor Flight Dayton. These events, part of Operation Honor, will spotlight the unveiling of a newly renamed aircraft, a historic Honor Flight mission, and a community-wide welcome home celebration. The event recognizes the 20th anniversary of the first Honor Flight, which originated locally when retired Air Force Capt. Earl Morse convinced pilots from the Wright-Patterson AFB Aero Club to fly 12 veterans aboard six small planes to Washington to see the World War II Memorial.
