A role model for our young women
Throughout history there have been many influential women who have become great role models for young women like me to look up to.


Unit inspires Soldiers to recognize the important role of women in US history
March is Women’s History Month. The roots of such recognition date back to March 8, 1857, when women from New York City factories staged a protest over working conditions. International Women’s Day was first observed in 1909, but it was in 1981 that Congress established National Women’s History Week to be commemorated the second week of March. In 1987, Congress expanded the week to the entire month of March. Every year since, Congress has passed a resolution for Women’s History Month, and the president has issued a proclamation.

Equipment, clothing secured in new lockers at 19 readiness centersSecuring more than $3,000 of issued military gear and equipment at homes can be a challenge, but for 2,400 Soldiers across the Virginia Army National Guard that’s about to change. As part of the $1.2 million statewide effort to reduce property loss, more than 150 ventilated equipment lockers were installed March 18, 2015, at the Blackstone Readiness Center, Blackstone, Virginia.

AKO email to shut down
The Army Knowledge Online email service is set to completely shut down March 31, 2015. Any messages sent to AKO email addresses will be forwarded to enterprise email accounts until June 30, 2015, after which all messages will be returned as undeliverable.
