Lance Cpl. Nicholas E. Moriarty, an assaultman with 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, scans local roads from his guard post at Patrol Base Meinert, May 16. The observation post was opened in mid-April and is named for fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Jacob A. "Slim" Meinert, who was also from Bravo Company.
