Lieutenant General R. Steven Whitcomb, Commanding General, Third US Army/ARCENT/CFLCC, says changes of command are important because the eyes of the world are on them; maybe specifically 3rd Army but they can see how friendly and peaceful and the mission never stops. Honored to take the place of LTG McKiernan; says he is a trainer, a teacher, a mentor to soldiers and peers. A unit never stays the same; it gets better or worse and 3rd Army will face new challenges and new struggles but accomplish the mission with LTG Whitcomb. Says this a personal fight because family members are fighting overseas; some come home; some continue to fight, but they will see the mission through. Says you don't become sissy and weak-kneed and not resolute in chasing the enemy down and killing them where they need to be killed. Third Army will do that. Says we are crossing another phase line and it's going to be fun. Let's get on with it.
