In 2008, 1st Lt. Scott Kelly was invited to participate in the first U.S. Army All-American Bowl. At the time, his parents were skeptical of the Army and particularly Kelly's desire to join as a commissioned officer; however after seeing the Army's dedication to the support and development of America's future leaders, they became convinced that joining the Army was the right choice for their son.
