Kert Lang, MCAS New River emergency manager, explains the purpose of VR14 which consisted of a simulated pandemic smallpox outbreak aboard MCAS New River. Roughly 1,500 personnel from MCAS New River, Camp Lejeune, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, and the Onslow County Department of Public Health and Emergency Services participated in the exercise.
