Staff Sgt. Phillip Shockley, a native of Scuffleton, North Carolina, talks about the 2014 Warrior Games and how it helps with his recovery. Shockley is competing in shooting and sitting volleyball on the Marine team. The Marine team has been training since September 15 in order to build team cohesion and acclimate to the above 6,000 ft. altitude of Colorado Springs. The Marine team is comprised of both active duty and veteran wounded, ill and injured Marines who are attached to or supported by the Wounded Warrior Regiment, the official unit of the Marine Corps charged with providing comprehensive non-medical recovery care to wounded, ill and injured Marines. The Warrior Games are a Paralympic-style competition for more than 200 wounded, ill and injured servicemembers and are taking place September 28 to October 4 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
