ROK paratroopers and marines demonstrate an amphibious assault at Incheon. Katusa Corporal Chung Woen Ho joins USS Warrior, the only US ship there, in action. Uss Warrior is deployed to Sasebo, Japan and is part of the US Seventh Fleet.
USS Warrior, which is America’s finest mine counter measure ship, is in Incheon to commemorate the 64th anniversary of Incheon landing and we are proud to participate with the allies here in South Korea.
USS Warrior plays a crucial but also a dangerous role.
If there is a threat of sea borne mines, then the role of mine counter measure ships is there to, as an advance force ahead of the landing force, make sure that the landing area is clear of mines.
Once we find a mine and classify as a mine-like contact, the evaluator will decide whether or not he wants to engage the mine. And if he does do that, this will go down to the launch depth and the vehicle will be launched. It will fly out, find and neutralize the mines.
This time around, USS Warrior is preparing for something less perilous. It is the only US ship participating in the ROK navy reenactment of the Incheon landing.
Anytime you are involved in an operation or ceremony with multiple ships, there’s close coordination involved, which means we have to make sure our equipment is ready to support. So our sailors, leading up to this and through out, we’re doing final details on maintenance, and checking equipment settings. Today we’re going to be looking at our mine counter measure equipment suite to make sure they’re no last minute issues.
And on game day, USS Warrior, alongside the ROK navy, successfully put on a show for the crowd. Katusa corporal Chung Woen Ho, Incheon Korea.
