Two Airmen didn’t choose this career field, but it didn’t stop them from enjoying every minute of it. Senior Airman Emma Duff reports.

The sound of hammers, the smell of sawdust, and a quick measurement starts the day for these two Airmen at Osan.
SB:
Before I got into CE somebody told me it was a good job, it was a great job. I didn’t believe them, cause I never ever really swung a hammer before. But once I got out of tech school I found out that you can use your creative genius. Especially when you’re deployed, they give you a lot of empowerment, a lot of autonomy to fix a problem.
Reporter:
Ssgt Marvin Reyes, a structural craftsman, shares a common pride with structural journeyman, SrA Shawn Seamans. SrA Seamans explains exactly where their job satisfaction comes from.
SB:
Being an engineer is really awesome because for example you go into a project you get to literally see it from the bottom built up to the top it’s, it allows you to explore creativity as well.
Reporter:Even with creative freedom a set of basic skills are still required.
SB:
I absolutely love this job it’s definitely, definitely the best occupation I’ve had since being in the Air Force and outside of the Air Force.
Reporter:
And just like the structures shop builds this cabinet, they also build on their pride and experience.
