Marines from II Marine Expeditionary Force, temporarily assigned to Headquarters and Support Battalion aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, protect the shores of Onslow Beach as lifeguards during the summer months. The lifeguards rescue swimmers in need of assistance and keep the beach clean from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
