    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) Soldiers and U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) conduct a conditioning hike on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. The hike was meant to strengthen the ties of the two forces and to improve the overall combat readiness. The JGSDF soldiers worked side-by-side with the Marines of Lima Company, BLT 3/5, 31st MEU as part of the Japanese Observer Exchange Program which consists of a wide range of bilateral events focusing on familiarization of large scale amphibious operations.
