EAST CHINA SEA (April 18, 2014) USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) Commanding Officer Captain Murray Joe "JT" Tynch III (green jacket) and bridge watch standers scan the surface for victims of the ferry Sewol sinking off the coast of the Republic of Korea (ROK). Later, A UH-1Y Huey helicopter, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265, takes off from the flight deck of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship to conduct search and rescue operations. Sailors and Marines aboard Bonhomme Richard are assisting in search and rescue operations as requested by the ROK Navy near the scene of the sunken ferry in the vicinity of the island of Jindo.
